NogginLabs Releases Off-The-Shelf Harassment e-learning Course
22 April 2003
NogginLabs, Inc., provider of custom e-learning solutions, today announced the launch of a new dynamically customizable off-the-shelf (OTS) e-learning course, “Understanding and Preventing Harassment.”
The course was created for employees of all levels and addresses how to prevent and respond to sexual, racial, age, and religious harassment in the workplace. The course can be customized to include any company’s specific harassment policies.
“When you look at the staggering number of workplace harassment charges made every year and the amount of money businesses pay out in settlements, it becomes frighteningly obvious that more effective harassment training is needed,” said Brian Knudson, CEO of NogginLabs.
According to the U.S. Equal Opportunity Employment Commission (EEOC), more than 84,000 harassment charges were filed in the U.S. in 2002, resulting in more than $300 million in monetary settlements.
“We did an in-depth analysis of existing OTS harassment courses and found most of them to be ineffective, online page-turners with obvious answers,” said Knudson. “Over the past 12-months, we’ve partnered with legal, academic, and corporate harassment experts to build a solid OTS e-learning solution that is relevant in almost every business category.”
Although many businesses appreciate the importance and necessity of harassment training, it is still often viewed as a timely and tedious compliance course. NogginLabs has applied their proven scenario-based approach to e-learning courseware to the “Understanding and Preventing Harassment” course. Scenarios are engaging and realistic and touch on many topics never before discussed in harassment training. “We understand that employees and businesses are not able to commit large amounts of time to harassment training,” said Knudson. “We’ve created a unique solution that limits the amount of time required by employees, yet still immerses them in engaging, realistic, yet succinct, scenarios.”
