NogginLabs, Inc. Honored in Fifth Annual International Business Awards
8 July 2008
Chicago, IL – July 2, 2008 – NogginLabs, Inc. has earned Certificates of Finalist Recognition in the Public Information and Professional Education categories in the 2008 International Business Awards. The International Business Awards are the only global, all-encompassing business awards program honoring great performances in business.
Nicknamed the Stevie® for the Greek word “crowned,” the awards will be presented to honorees at a gala dinner on Monday, September 8 in the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin, Ireland. Primary sponsors for the event will be Dow Jones and IDA Ireland.
Honorees were selected from more than 1,700 entries received from organizations and individuals in more than 30 countries.
Organizations all over the world are eligible to compete in The International Business Awards, and can enter in any of more than 40 categories from Best Multinational Company and Best New Product to Best Corporate Social Responsibility Program and Best Executive.
The course nominated in the Public Information category is Peer Empowerment Education Referral Station (PEERS). Developed for the AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC), in collaboration with Test Positive Aware Network, the Peer Empowerment Education Referral Station is a public resource for individuals newly diagnosed with HIV/AIDS to access quality information and to find reassurance during difficult times. This interactive resource comprises an interactive HIV/AIDS wellness guide and a directory of local resources. It is accessible from the AFC community website and includes engaging activities while providing detailed information for all audiences. NogginLabs fully developed the first of five modules, largely pro-bono, and provided the tools and support for AFC to complete the remaining portions themselves.
Nominated in the Professional Education category is Turning the Page, Building Your Library Community. Developed for the Public Library Association, Turning the Page is an online, interactive training curriculum for librarians and library supporters. Through a variety of learning activities, the curriculum prepares the learner for library advocacy work while teaching the skills essential to building sources of sustainable funding. Turning the Page incorporates a modifiable action plan across all constituent modules. At the conclusion of the training, the learner will have developed a full, printable action plan to use as a resource in his/her ongoing advocacy efforts.
“We were beyond excited to have first been nominated and then to win a Stevie Award [for the PEERS website] at the American Business Awards last month, and now to find out that we are finalists at the International Business Awards is beyond anything we could have imagined,” NogginLabs co-owner and CFO Traci Knudson said. “What a great testament to the work our company does as well as to the work the AIDS Foundation of Chicago and the Public Library Association do.”
Members of the Awards’ Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors and their staffs selected International Stevie winners from among the Finalists, which were determined by volunteer judges around the world during two months of preliminary judging.
“Entries to the IBAs grew 65% this year and that illustrates the increasing importance of The International Business Awards worldwide,” said Michael Gallagher, president of The Stevie Awards, presenters of the IBAs. “We congratulate all of the honorees, and we look forward to recognizing them for their achievements at our gala awards dinner in Dublin on September 8.”
“We are so grateful and excited to be recognized in this way,” Knudson said. “We look forward to sharing this excitement with the AIDS Foundation of Chicago and the Public Library Association, without whom none of this would be possible.”
