NogginLabs earns praise for HIV health course
30 April 2008
April 30, 2008 – Medill Reports Chicago – A new NogginLabs project is receiving acclaim for the wealth of information it offers to individuals recently diagnosed with HIV.
The PEERS (Peer Empowerment Education Referral Station) Web site, developed through a collaborative effort between NogginLabs and the AIDS Foundation of Chicago, engages users with an interactive e-learning course featuring five characters developed by people with HIV.
The characters illustrate the steps a person recently diagnosed with HIV should take to lead a healthy life. The characters come from varying backgrounds and provide users with realistic accounts that help assuage the fears or concerns they might be facing.
Chicago Tribune health reporter Judith Graham applauded the site for the “life-changing information” it provides. “The new PEERSpeak Web site adopts a creative approach to the subject,” Graham wrote in an April 15 posting on the Tribune’s Web site.
The site was a labor of love for those involved in its development. For teams from NogginLabs and the AIDS Foundation of Chicago, the project came as additional work for their already busy schedules, and it required logging extra hours on nights and weekends. But the result was worth it.
Representatives of the AIDS Foundation of Chicago said NogginLabs helped the organization bring a concept to fruition. “We knew we wanted to create an e-learning tool, but had no idea how to actualize it,” the organization stated. “The NogginLabs team took our fledgling idea and helped us develop it into an exciting, innovative project that far exceeded our expectations.”
NogginLabs CFO Traci Knudson is pleased the company was able to assist in educating people facing such a serious health issue. “People will be more knowledgeable and successful dealing with this situation after taking this course,” Knudson said.
