In The Know wins Silver in eHealthcare Leadership Awards
9 November 2009
Rye, New York—November 9, 2009—The National Marrow Donor Program proudly announces that In The Know, the Donor’s Guide on BeTheMatch.org, has won Silver in the eHealthcare Leadership Awards category for Best Interactive Site. The interactive module that helps prepare potential bone marrow donors for the donation process was created in partnership with NogginLabs.
NogginLabs was thrilled to work with the National Marrow Donor Program to develop this site. The team was led by Senior Project Manager and Third Noggin, Maria Liccardo, who said, “The development of In the Know was a true partnership between NMDP and NogginLabs. Our team loved working with the content, knowing how much it would help people, and we had a great collaboration with NMDP to create meaningful interactivity in the course.”
Visitors to the site have typically been identified as a possible marrow donor and are seeking assistance to make an informed decision about whether to continue through the testing and donation process. Not only is the module filled with information about donating bone marrow, but it also dispels common myths about the donation procedure.
The eHealthcare Leadership Awards are sponsored by Strategic Health Care Communications and recognize the best websites of healthcare organizations, online health companies, pharmaceutical and medical equipment firms, suppliers, and business improvement initiatives. Entries are judged by a panel of 116 independent individuals who are familiar with healthcare and the Internet.
The Best Interactive Site category focuses on the site’s technologies for providing health information and evaluations, establishing ongoing relationship via personal pages, and facilitating community groups. BeTheMatch.org’s In The Know employs a performance-based design that allows the learner to play the role of a donor educator, answering questions and providing information for other potential donors.
