So, you’re starting a project with NogginLabs! I’d like to congratulate you on a good decision. We’re an award-winning custom e-learning vendor and will help you accomplish your goals.
What are the best ways for you to communicate those goals to us at the beginning of a project to ensure success?
We love examples! What are some games you’ve played that you like? Are there examples of ad campaigns that have a tone you like? Are there past training courses you’ve made that you like? Even courses that you don’t like as an example of what not to do can be helpful. Show us what you currently have and tell us how you feel about it.
What’s important is that you articulate why you like an example. We might not be able to create the next Civilization-like game for your learners, but maybe there is something you like about Civilization that we can incorporate into your course. Maybe what you like about it is that it’s turn-based. Let us know! It’s a lot more helpful to hear “I like that that the player can choose from a number of different characters to play in order to give them a different perspective on the same experience,” than it is to hear “Make it like Civilization.” The first opinion gives us a target.
Chances are you have an idea of what you want this training to accomplish. At kickoff, we’ll also talk about learning objectives and goals, but it’s helpful to us to get those from you as early in the process as possible. The sooner we can get an idea of what your learning objectives are, the sooner we can get to work on focused brainstorms to bring these ideas to life.
Source Material and SMEs
As we get started on a project, we are looking for as much information as possible from you. The more, the better. Pile it on. We want source material! We’ll take it all. And as early as possible.
Another helpful thing is to have some conversations with your Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). Sometimes, the person in charge of the project is not a SME; he or she may be a facilitator or manager. If that’s the case, we’d love to talk to your SMEs!
Basically, what we want at the beginning of the project is insight into what you like and don’t like (about your current training and training, in general), a summary of your high-level goals and learning objectives for the project, and access to your source content and Subject Matter Experts. With all of these things, we’re sure to produce another award winning custom e-learning course for your learners.
