NogginLabs was founded on the notion that custom e-learning design and development is the ultimate horizontal industry. Time and again, each new project, client, and industry proves it. The biggest advantage of the e-learning horizontal is cross-pollinating ideas from two wildly different domains. A restaurant service simulation for iPad may influence a high-fashion online retail challenge. E-learning for financial advisors in a bank could inspire a mobile outreach program for cancer survivors. This variety also keeps the creative folks at NogginLabs fresh. Fresh learning ideas and designs come from a set of constantly changing constraints.

UPDATE: Our food drive is now closed. Thanks to all who participated! Together, we raised $1002.68 dollars plus 100 pounds of food, which translates into into 3,248 meals.

It's no secret that there is a huge problem facing our world today: food insecurity.
Everyday, millions of people around the world don't know where their next meal will come from. It's a sad reality. But, here at NogginLabs, we believe that every problem has a solution. We are a team of creative thinkers and passionate people that face challenges in our work to create better e-learning everyday, so we know a thing or two about solving problems. Now, I'm not saying we're going to solve the world hunger crisis.

But, we can start chipping away at this problem by starting small, within our own local Chicago community. The fact is, individuals in the Chicago community struggle with continuous access to food. Currently, 16.6 percent of Cook County’s population is facing food insecurity, meaning 860,670 people are unsure of when they will have their next meal. 1 in 6 Chicagoans suffer from food insecurity. In some communities, the food insecurity rate is as high as 1 in 3 individuals.

This is why NogginLabs is hosting a one-week food and fund drive supporting the Greater Chicago Food Depository. The Food Depository has been distributing food to the Cook County community since 1979. They began as a small operation founded by six individuals with a dream to end hunger; they continue today with the same inspiration, alongside their network of 650 member agencies – food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and programs. With our support, they will continue to keep food flowing into our community while addressing the root causes of hunger.

We love the Food Depository's easy-to-use donation platform. Use of awarding badges for accomplishments and goal-tracking performance meter allow for a comfortable user experience. These types of gamification elements are part of the reason why the Food Depository is so successful. An engaged community combined with technology that isn't complicated yields results.

Our goal is to raise $500 AND 175 pounds of food (which is equal to 1,645 meals) in one week (Monday, November 16th through Friday, November 20th). At NogginLabs, we believe that behavior trumps knowledge. Join us in taking action to end hunger in the Chicagoland community. We invite you to donate to our public VIRTUAL food and fund drive - here's how you can help:

  • You can shop for bulk food items in the Food Depository online shop, or skip the shop and donate directly - please visit our customized link to do either. With every dollar donated, the Food Depository will be able to serve 3 meals to those in need. Check out the Most Needed Items for the specific food items we are trying to collect
  • Spread the word - Please share this blog with your friends and family and encourage them to help us reach our goal!

Thank you in advance for your participation and support. Together we can make sure no one in our community goes hungry!
