Meet James
James is a gay man who currently lives by himself in a rented apartment. James was in denial about the possibility of being HIV positive, but was diagnosed about three months ago at a free clinic.
So far, James hasn’t experienced any severe symptoms associated with HIV or AIDS, but the news that he was positive was emotionally overwhelming for him.
He did, however, find an experienced health care provider specializing in HIV. After he was diagnosed, he started taking a standard course of anti-retroviral treatments that he’s been sticking to pretty consistently.
The bottom line: James is physically OK on the medication, but he’s not doing well mentally or emotionally. That’s why he’s come to you.
