Meet Nicki
Nicki is a 19 year old female who is concerned about her current relationship with her boyfriend and her own health. She recently moved into an apartment with a girlfriend from her beauty college and has been seeing her current boyfriend for about a year. Nicki always insisted on using condoms but her boyfriend would put up a fight, saying if she loved him she wouldn't make him wear one. Feeling powerless and under pressure, she would have unsafe sex.
Lately, her boyfriend seemed distant and preoccupied. She began to suspect he might be fooling around with other women. Nicki was nervous about her status and found a neighborhood STD clinic, where she tested positive for HIV. Desperate and upset, she called an AIDS service organization and made an appointment to see a social worker.
As a social worker, your job will be to comfort Nicki and provide her with resources for her health and wellness.
